CUSTOM POOLS AND OUTDOOR LIVING IN NEBRASKA
YOUR BACKYARD, BUILT FOR EVERY SEASON
WHERE TO FIND US
ENHANCING THE OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
Hardscape Contractors was founded in Papillion in 2008, and the Omaha metro is still where we do the majority of our work. Our team designs and builds complete outdoor living spaces across Elkhorn, Gretna, Bennington, Millard, Omaha, and the surrounding communities -- from custom inground pools and paver patios to full backyard builds with outdoor kitchens, fire features, pergolas, and landscape lighting.
Nebraska's climate puts real demands on outdoor construction. Expansive clay soils shift seasonally, freeze-thaw cycles test every surface and structure, and the build window is shorter than in warmer markets. We engineer every project around those conditions -- proper base prep, drainage planning, and material selection that holds up through an Omaha winter and performs for years after.
Everything runs through one team. Your pool, your patio, your lighting, and your plantings are designed and built together -- not handed off between subcontractors. That is how the finished space actually feels cohesive.
POOL INSTALLATION FOR THE OMAHA METRO
CUSTOM POOLS IN NEBRASKA
Pool season in Nebraska is shorter than in most markets, which makes the build timeline and the quality of the installation that much more important. A well-built pool that is designed around your property and engineered for Nebraska soil gives you a backyard you can use hard from May through September -- and one that holds up through the off-season without issues. We build four types of inground pools across the Omaha metro.
FIBERGLASS POOLS›
Fiberglass is the fastest path to a finished pool in the Omaha area. Because the shell is manufactured off-site and installed as a single unit, most fiberglass projects move from excavation to swim-ready in three to four weeks -- a meaningful advantage when you are working within Nebraska's shorter construction season. The nonporous gelcoat surface resists algae growth and requires less chemical treatment than concrete, which keeps maintenance simple through the summer and makes winterization more straightforward. We offer a range of shapes and sizes with built-in benches, tanning ledges, and integrated steps.
GUNITE & CONCRETE POOLS›
Gunite gives you full control over shape, depth, and layout -- which matters when you are working with a sloped lot, an irregular backyard, or a design that includes an integrated spa, vanishing edge, or custom water feature. These pools are built on-site with a steel-reinforced framework and a hand-applied gunite or shotcrete finish. The construction timeline runs longer than fiberglass (typically three to five months with surrounding hardscape), but the result is a pool that is shaped entirely around your property. We build gunite pools to withstand Nebraska's freeze-thaw cycles with proper steel placement, drainage, and expansion detailing.
LUXURY VINYL POOLS›
Vinyl liner pools are the most budget-friendly entry point to a custom inground pool. The liner is smooth, comfortable, and available in a wide range of colors and patterns. What determines long-term performance is the structure underneath -- the wall panels, the base, the bracing, and the plumbing. Our vinyl builds are engineered for Omaha-area soil movement and seasonal ground heave, so the pool structure stays true even as conditions change between seasons.
PLUNGE POOLS›
A plunge pool fits where a full-sized pool does not. These compact pools are designed for cooling off, hydrotherapy, or simply adding a water element to a smaller backyard without the footprint or maintenance commitment of a traditional inground pool. They pair well with a patio and fire pit for a year-round outdoor living setup -- swim in July, sit by the fire in October. For the suburban lots in Elkhorn, Bennington, and Gretna where yard space is tighter, a plunge pool can be the right scale.
RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPES
OUTDOOR LIVING & BEYOND
A Nebraska backyard has to earn its keep across a wide range of conditions -- 95-degree July afternoons, cool fall evenings, and everything in between. Our design process starts with how your family actually plans to use the space, and builds outward from there.
We design and construct paver patios, composite decks, outdoor kitchens, fire features, pergolas and pavilions, retaining and seating walls, water features, landscape lighting, and plantings. Because every element is managed under one roof -- from design through construction -- your pool, patio, lighting, and landscape all come together as one coordinated build rather than a series of disconnected projects.
COMMERCIAL LANDSCAPES
ELEVATING BUSINESSES
The Omaha metro's growth has brought new senior living communities, restaurant patios, corporate campuses, and HOA common areas that all benefit from intentional outdoor environments. We design and build commercial spaces using the same materials and construction standards as our residential work -- proper base preparation, premium hardscape materials, and drainage engineering that accounts for Nebraska's seasonal ground movement.
From healing gardens and accessible walkways to paver dining patios and welcoming entryways, each commercial project is designed around the property's function, foot traffic patterns, and long-term maintenance requirements.
FAQs
When is the best time to start a pool project in Nebraska?
1
Most Omaha-area pool projects break ground between March and early June. Starting earlier in the season gives your project the longest runway before weather becomes a factor and puts you in the best position to be swimming by midsummer. That said, fall and winter are good times to begin the design and permitting process so construction can start as soon as the ground is workable in spring.
What types of pools does Hardscape Contractors build in the Omaha area?
2
vinyl liner pools. Fiberglass is the fastest to install and lowest maintenance. Gunite offers the most design flexibility. Plunge pools work well for smaller lots. Vinyl is the most budget-friendly. Our team walks you through the trade-offs during the consultation based on your property, your timeline, and how you plan to use the pool.
How do Nebraska winters affect pool construction and maintenance?
3
Nebraska's freeze-thaw cycles are a real factor in how a pool needs to be built and maintained. We engineer every pool installation for seasonal ground movement -- proper drainage, reinforced structure, and materials rated for the temperature swings. Winterization is straightforward and we can walk you through the process. A well-built pool handles Nebraska winters without issues.
Can you design a full outdoor living space around the pool?
4
Yes, and that is how most of our Omaha-area projects work. We are a design and build firm, so the pool, patio, outdoor kitchen, fire features, lighting, and plantings are all part of one coordinated project. Building everything together keeps the design cohesive and avoids the cost and disruption of phasing work across multiple contractors and seasons.
